From Pointe shoes to Timbs…I dance in them all!
As a Magna Cum Laude graduating senior from the #1 HBCU, Spelman College, I am a versatile and passionate dancer with 20 years of extensive training in jazz, jazz funk, contemporary, commercial hip-hop, pointe, ballet, musical theatre and commercial dance. As a Mahogany N Motion majorette for two years, I had the honor of contributing to the rich legacy of HBCU culture, blending precision, performance, and spirit while uplifting the significance of Black artistry and tradition on some of the nation’s biggest stages. My goal is to align my aspirations with a sense of curated artistry, using my skills to share and entertain the world while representing the beauty and depth of Black culture in dance.
As the lead dancer in an NYC Off-Broadway Rock Ballet, I utilized innovative storytelling through an eclectic mix of dance styles, including lyrical, modern, jazz, ballet, and hip-hop, to advocate for social justice. This unique collaboration reinforced my belief in dance as a powerful tool for change. Further advancing this mission, I founded BAK Outreach: For the Advancement of the Arts, a New Jersey-based nonprofit that employs dance to promote equity, respect, and humility, while fostering social acceptance, racial equality, and gender inclusiveness. Through this work, I aim to inspire communities and advance the transformative power of the arts.
My journey includes esteemed experiences such as performing at the Essence Festival, for Grammy Award-winning artist Janelle Monáe, the Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Falcons, for Vice President Kamala Harris during her Fight for Our Freedoms College Tour and many more diverse performances. I have honed my craft through renowned programs like the Alvin Ailey School Summer Intensives, Broadway Dance Center, Joffrey Ballet School, STEPS On Broadway, and Center Stage Dance and Theater School to further enhance my technical skill, artistry, and versatility. During my fellowship at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, I deepened my understanding of the business side of dance, gaining insights into marketing strategies and product innovation to further elevate my artistic pursuits with every performance, I aim to dance for the life of those without a voice; and commit to promoting innovation of the arts and sciences through the lens of dance – with the common goal of making a difference in the world of performing arts – one dance at a time.
